When Control Meets Fluidity

Join this CASE study focussed presentation from the perspectives of a PRINCE2 Practitioner, Peter Hill, from IT Strategy, Planning and Delivery at the Ministry of Education. Peter will base a discussion around learnings from three individual projects implemented over the last year at the Ministry of Education, New Zealand.

The presentation will focus on:

1. The challenges of bringing PRINCE2 disciplines into an organisational culture that tends to be rather fluid in delivering change

2. How the PRINCE2 process "Managing Product Delivery" is effective in controlling the interface from a supplier project methodology (such as PMBOK). The key takeaway here is a discussion on the controls associated with authorising, monitoring and delivering work packa

3. MSP - the issues faced by not having the case study projects of a MSP-compliant Programme - specific discussion around benefits management here

4. Integrating Education's Transition Management Framework with PRINCE2

As well as this rich presentation, Peter will provide insights and advice for those facing the challenges of "Steering committee culture", a lack of weak or non-existent product descriptions and the pitfalls of being overly ambitious in establishing the project's tolerance framework.
